Weekly Discussion Questions

The vision of the basket is a message to us about the seriousness with which God takes our sin and how He intends to deal with it.  Three truths are seen here…

[1] Those who are in Jesus have had their sins taken away, removed far from them (see Romans 8:1; 2 Corinthians 5:23; Psalm 103:12)

[2] God is sovereign. He will have the final say over sin.  Sin does not win in the end however it appears now.

[3] A time is coming when sin will be gone forever.

  • When thinking about sin/wickedness/iniquity, why does it seem our natural reaction is to think about someone else’s sins instead of our own sin?

  • Why is it important to see iniquity portrayed as a tiny woman in a basket being carried out with ease?

  • What is the significance of their wickedness being carried off to the land of Babylon? How does this give us hope for the future?

Prayer: Thank you Father for the power you have over sin an darkness.  Help us to take sin as serious as You do that we may “close the lid” on it lest it be free to roam as it pleases.
