  • Have someone read the Bible passage.

  • Have someone facilitate the Bible study using the weekly discussion questions.

Weekly Discussion Questions

  • The people set up kings and princes "but not through [God's] consent". What does it look like to make decisions "through" God, and how can we avoid making important choices without consulting Him?

  • Israel multiplied altars for sin, and their religious practices became empty rituals. What are some "altars" or modern idols (e.g., career success, entertainment, personal comfort) that can take precedence over a relationship with God today? Vv. 5-6,11-13

  • The famous phrase "they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind" illustrates the natural, destructive consequences of sin. Can you share an example (personal or observed) of this principle in action? How does this proverb connect to the New Testament concept of "sowing to the Spirit" or "sowing to the flesh”? V. 7

  • Israel forgot their Maker and built palaces and fortified cities, trusting in their own achievements. How can we actively remember God's past faithfulness and provision in our lives to prevent falling into the trap of self-reliance? V. 14

Prayer: Father thank you that though we are to often unfaithful you remain ever faithful.  May we live our lives with gratitude for and not presumption of such amazing grace.
