Weekly Discussion Questions
The last chapter of Zephaniah focuses on the themes of judgment, repentance, and the eventual restoration of God's people. How does the prophet describe the people of Jerusalem in the first few verses?
What words are used to describe the judges, officials, prophets and priests and in contrast how is the Lord described in verse 5?
What was the Lord’s purpose in what took place in verses 6-13? (the cutting off of the streets, the changing of the speech and the people that were left) what was the outcome He was striving for in the people of Israel?
Believers are asked to shout for joy, rejoice and not fear in the last section of chapter 3. What has happened to bring about this restoration?
Are there any personal judgments, enemies or idols replacing God in your life that need to be removed in order for you to truly experience the joy that is being described or promised at the conclusion of this chapter?
Prayer: Father, help us that we don’t neglect the Lord’s business due to any distractions.
