Weekly Discussion Questions

  • Why does God tell Hosea to love and buy back his unfaithful wife, Gomer, who is now a slave?

  • How does Hosea's act mirror God's enduring love for unfaithful Israel, and how does it foreshadow Christ's redemptive work?

  • In v. 4-5 what does the prophecy of Israel living "many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred pillars" signify about their judgment, and what hope does their eventual return to God offer?

  • In what ways are we spiritually unfaithful like Gomer, and how can we apply Hosea's costly love and God's call to return in our own relationships and faith?

Prayer: Father thank you that though we are to often unfaithful you remain ever faithful.  May we live our lives with gratitude for and not presumption of such amazing grace.
