  • What food and/or drink do you think you would have a hard time living without?

  • What kind of famine did God promise to send to Israel as judgement for their continual disobedience?

  • Read Deuteronomy 8:1-3. How is God’s word like bread and water?

  • What did God promise would happen to the idolatrous & perpetually disobedient  in Israel? (v.8:13-9:1)

  • According to the illustrations God gave in ch.9:1-4 would any of unrepentant Israel escape God’s wrath? Discuss the illustrations & why God gave them.

  • Why is God called the Lord God of hosts throughout Amos, & what does ch.9:5-6 illustrate about him?

  • What is the message of hope at the end of Amos’ prophecy found in ch.9:8-12?

  • Read Romans 1:18-25. Who does God’s word say his wrath will be revealed against & why?

  • Read Acts 15:11-17. How is this a fulfillment of God’s promise of redemption in Amos 9:8-12? How did the apostles believe the Jews & Gentiles would be saved?
