Accountability Question

  • Did everyone read all five assignments?

  • What application points did you find?

Group Participation

  • Where are we on our ministry project?

  • Have someone take requests and lead prayer.

  • Have someone tell the story or paraphrase.

  • Have someone read the Bible passage.

  • Have someone facilitate the Bible study using the weekly discussion questions.

Weekly Discussion Questions

  • Have you ever had to run to safety from a dangerous animal? If so, tell the story. (funny icebreaker, but also sets up relatable illustrations for v.18-19)

  • In v.6 God tells Israel to seek him & live. Read Hebrews 11:1, 6. According to this passage, how do we seek God?

  • Faith in God is evidenced by obeying God. How does v.7 say Israel had disobeyed God, thus showing their lack of faith in him?

  • Define justice and righteousness.

  • What sins of injustice and unrighteousness did God rebuke Israel for in v.10-13?

  • Read Matthew 22:36-39. What two commandments does Jesus say summarize all O.T. commandments? How do these commands relate to righteousness & justice?

  • What did God say about Israel’s worship rituals in v.21-24, and what does he say he desires instead? How is this a problem in some Christians & churches today?

  • What could it look like for justice to roll down like waters & righteousness like an ever-flowing stream in the lives of Christians & churches today?

Prayer: God of hosts, the Lord of righteousness and justice. We humble ourselves before you to seek you in faith, and to repent of all injustice & unrighteousness. Help us live lives of righteousness & justice for your glory. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
