All I Want For Christmas
Christmas carries that magical notion that when it comes to presents or gifts you can have just about anything you want, right? No matter what it is, if it’s what you want then just figure out a way to get the word to Santa and it’s gonna happen. We call it a wish list. When someone says, “All I want for Christmas” it is a statement of intense focus about a particular gift that is not just at the top of a list of gifts. It’s all that is on the list. Other things fade away and all your attention is on this one thing. It is the most important, most desired thing you can think of. It’s all you want for Christmas.
My Real Family
There is the ideal family and then there is the “real” family. I’m guessing yours is likely to fall into the “real” category. Adam and Eve were the first family and before they had their first kid they were already in trouble, and then when the kids started coming it only got worse. Family can be complicated as the matrix changes, but God has some great directions for making it work. We’re going to look at that for the next few weeks. Hope you’ll join us.
We struggle with tension between loving God and loving the world. Why is it so tempting and how do we face it in an ever-growing culture of sensuality? A series about dealing with lust and passion.
Jars of Clay
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the most valuable treasure of all time, and the Lord has given it to those who will believe. God inspired the apostle Paul to describe those of us who have this treasure of the Gospel as jars of clay. Jars of clay are very useful vessels, but they are also very fragile. We are going to take a look at why the Bible refers to believers as jars of clay and what it means for our lives.
Knees To The Earth
Worship. What is it? Who does it? Where is it done? When is it appropriate? What does it look like? Nothing it seems has the capacity to transform the heart at one moment and in another be resisted with unparalleled sinful pride. God demands it and Lucifer desperately wants it, and it’s yours to give as you choose, so choose wisely.
Stories: God's. Yours. Mine. Ours.
We each have a story and our story is shaped by Gods story, and when we submit ourselves to the hand of God He weaves us together into a beautiful tapestry that tells our story which is a great story! It is the story of redemption, forgiveness, restoration, and healing. It is the story of us!
Community: Living life together. This sermon series is about the benefit and responsibility of Christian communal fellowship, as well as the liability when it is neglected.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (ESV)
9Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. 10For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! 11Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? 12And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Sola Scriptura means Scripture Alone. It is the fundamental belief that the Bible is the Word Of God and therefore is infallible, inerrant, inspired and authoritative. Only when the Holy Spirit does His regenerating work and gives understanding of the revelation of God, only then do people come to believe and trust in the Bible. The reason I know the Bible is true is that the Spirit Of God has convinced me of it. The beginning of our trouble is when someone said, "Did God say...?".
Broverbs: Actions For Men
Most men learn how to live by making mistakes, because no one has taught them; no one has showed them the way to live skillfully; ways to avoid dangers and pitfalls in life. The book of Proverbs offers some "Proverbs" for men who want to live skillfully for God.
To the Greeks it was foolishness and to the Jews it was a stumbling block they couldn't get past. But it was the moment that the sins of humanity were made a spectacle in defeat. That is the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, God's Son.
There are some things you're just not supposed to talk about. They're off-limits, taboo, too provocative. But since God has something to say about them then I guess we're going to mention some unmentionables.
I've Got This
Life is hard. Sometimes it is more than we can handle, but we are not alone. God invites you to trust Him. In fact you are invited to give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.
Everywhere we turn, battle lines are being drawn—traditional marriage vs. gay marriage, pro-life vs. pro-choice, personal freedom vs. governmental protection. Seemingly overnight, culture has shifted to the point where right and wrong are no longer measured by universal truth but by popular opinion. And as difficult conversations about homosexuality, abortion, and religious liberty continue to inject themselves into our workplaces, our churches, our schools, and our homes, Christians everywhere are asking the same question: How are we supposed to respond to all this? You may be surprised to learn that the Apostle Peter wrote a book about this very thing... 2000 years ago.
King Of Kings
Humility is not a typical characteristic of a king. Most kings in history were anything but humble; they instead attempted to establish their rule through dominance & pride. Jesus is not like other kings. He is not only the ruler of all people, but he is also our creator. He reigns supreme above all other kings. Yet... he humbled himself. Let’s look into Philippians 2:5-11.
Americans are known in the world for their generosity. You could even say that among Americans, generosity is normal, or even commonplace. So much that it can even go unnoticed. Extraordinary generosity on the other hand is always noticed. When the love of God in us moves us to extraordinary generosity the affect is no less than revolutionary.
God Never Said That
We love offering little nuggets of advice, support, or sympathy. They come in handy when we want people to feel better. But what if the guidance you’re giving or receiving just isn’t true? What if God Never Said That?
This four-week series tackles common myths about God, like “God wants you happy” or “God never gives you more than you can handle,” and how those myths keep us from having a deeper relationship with Him.
Like A Child
Whether we’re nostalgic or overscheduled, this season can find us longing for a simpler time…when the world seemed full of wonder, when joy was wholehearted and love was unrestrained. Let’s re-discover what it means to live and believe Like a Child.
A Way Out
Temptation is the seductive little voice that twists what you want into what you need. It distorts your thoughts until you’re trapped—and when you’re trapped by temptation, it’s not the time to listen to yourself. Put your trust in someone who knows A Way Out.
